Nevis and Averum - Blue Moon's Recent Aliens

So, it seems a few new aliens in 15mm snuck past us here at the ol' Dropship Horizon. Back around June-ish, Blue Moon Manufacturing released two new ten-packs of aliens - the Nevis and Averum.

Both packs present to the gamer with five poses of light infantry, equipped with rifles and little armor. Neither pack seems to offer an obvious leader or special weapon type, though the latter shouldn't be hard to convert from any one of the poses.

  1. Hmm... more humanoids. It's amazing how all across the galaxy, everyone is bilaterally symmetrical with two arms and two legs. The heads on the Nevis are pretty neat, I'll admit. Great binocular vision on those guys...

  2. With the reality of what sells and the potential technical issues that can come up with some of the more characterful alien concepts, it doesn't surprise me that nifty stuff like that is few and far between.

  3. They'll be good as auxiliary light troops for some Alien Empire. That said there are dozens of Alien races available that are just one offs: lacking in vehicles or other troop types. It does sometimes make things less interesting that there are loads of Humanoid style aliens; though with the miniature business its more understandable (its way more annoying when you get games or T.V shows that have Aliens which are just humans with a funny face).
On the other hand I think if people went to crazy with Aliens, and made something truly out of this world, no one would be able to relate to it; though i'd probs still by some for the sake of it.
